Laptop Docking Stations
Find the right Docking Station for your Laptop.
Docking stations and laptop port replicators are accessories that you keep at your desk. Your laptop fits snugly into them and receives additional functionality, making it more like a desktop computer when it’s used at your desk.
Most full size/desktop replacement laptops today come with enough ports so that you don’t need these things. If you are buying a very small, ultra-portable laptop, you may want to consider such devices, but with the availability of speedy FireWire and USB ports that can connect to pretty much anything with the right adaptors, docking stations and laptop port replicators are typically not as necessary for home/lap use nowadays.
If you have a desk at the office or your home office with a second monitor, laptop port replicator will be handy as you can connect your desk keyboard, mouse, monitor, power and speakers to the laptop port docking station and then just pop the laptop in and out as needed instead of hooking up 5 connections. Laptop docking stations are a good asset in the office or home office, and not so useful for the wandering low-tech computer user.
